You’ve been riding for years, and you’ve had some pretty wild moments along the way. If you had to pick one, what has to be the most memorable or craziest thing that’s happened in your career?
Got to be the World Champs win. I mean, the home crowd... all my family were there and everybody had come up to watch in the horrendous weather. I'm glad to have put on a good result for that!
What’s the best piece of riding advice you’ve ever received, and who gave it to you?
I think my mechanic said it to me maybe before dropping in one time, “Bones Mend, Press Send”.
If you could ride anywhere in the world, no limits, where would you go and why? Is there a dream spot you haven’t ticked off the list yet, or somewhere you’re itching to return to?
Probably Queenstown, New Zealand. It's such a sick place. Really good riding and Coronet Peak up the road.
What’s one thing only mountain bikers understand?
It's got be the lingo. I guess it’s the same in every sport to have terms for things but if you asked normal people what a berm was, they'd be like “???”
When it comes to keeping a bike running smoothly, what’s the one maintenance tip you think every rider should follow—something that makes a real difference?
With my new bike, life is a hundred times easier because I don’t have a chain to maintain…I guess the maintenance tip is to get a belt-drive bike!
You put your bikes through a lot, big jumps, rough terrain, plenty of crashes. How important is frame protection for someone who rides as much as you?
Sometimes it goes wrong. That’s when you’re glad you had protection on the bike!
If you weren’t a pro rider, what do you think you’d be doing?
Probably something still in the mountain bike industry or maybe some sort of motorsport.
Actually… DJ. Get some decks and I'd be good to go
What’s the best trail or feature you’ve ever built or ridden?
The jumps outside my house. I built them when I was about eight years old.
If you could apply the same level of protection that invisiFRAME offers to anything outside of bikes, what would it be and why?
Maybe my body? Yeah… if I could invisiFRAME it so I never got injured that would be absolutely ideal.
A big thanks to Charlie for answering our questions! Follow him on Instagram as he starts his 2025 DH World Cup campaign.
